PC sends issue back to City Council recommending a re-zone to
conditional use. |
|
|
Updated
2/11/2006 |
Remember? An out of state developer want
to put up about 100 homes just east of the ferry terminal, in CM zoning.
The Planning Commission recommended to the City Council a rezone to
residential, not to use a conditional use permit. What's the
difference? A conditional use permit will likely be more lenient
for the builder, allowing narrower streets and more houses.
But the City Council rejected the recommendation.

The City
and the Port work to develop a plan on a sensitive subject, cutting trees.
Then what happens, they cut the wrong trees! Now they are trying to
determine who's at fault. Let's see what they determine, but when
the lead Port official is quoted as saying, " When the sawyers rev their
chain saws, they have to cut something". I believe their is a lack
of understanding on the Port's part as to the importance we place on our
environment. And it shows a lack of sensitivity to the wishes of
Anacortes' citizens.
